Title: Playful Designs: Multiliteracies and Literariness in the Language-Culture Classroom

Description: Multiliteracies frameworks have introduced the notion of language use and learning as active engagement in practices of meaning design, which has spurred a renewed interest in creative literacy activities. But how can scholars, educators, and curriculum developers conceptualize creative language in ways that help them to integrate it in their classrooms and curricula with intentionality.

About the Discussant: Chantelle Warner is Associate Professor of German and Second Language Acquisition and Teaching at the University of Arizona, where she also co-directs the Center for Educational Resources in Culture, Language and Literacy (CERCLL). Her research focuses on how language is involved in struggles for social and symbolic power and the educational potential of creative multilingualism.
