Title: Enjoyment as Engagement: Sample Activities for the Language Classroom

Description: This session will explore how enjoyable and even fun(!) activities can engage language learners at various levels. Specifically, this presentation will demonstrate sample activities for classroom warm-ups along with initiating, developmental, and continuing activities that foster collaboration, engagement, and enjoyment.

About the DiscussantJulie Larson-Guenette (Ph.D, UW-Madison) is teaching faculty for the undergraduate German program in the department of German, Nordic and Slavic+ at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her current interests include instructed-SLA, learner variables and strategies relative to L2 literacy and the German-American experience. She is also the faculty director for the UW's International Learning Community's (ILC) Stockwerk Deutsch and a member of the UW-System Placement Testing Committee for German. Prior to returning to Madison, Julie has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses on language teaching methods, content literacy and linguistics.
